Election Support Specialist (IT skills) position for Marion County Clerk’s Office in Salem, Oregon.

Introduction:

Do you enjoy working with people and using technology to promote, protect and enhance democracy through election administration?
The Support Specialist applies specialized knowledge in multiple software applications; conducts training sessions; assists in design, implementation, maintenance and configurating of systems and applications, and recommends policy or procedural changes to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of systems; provides technical assistance in and facilitates the use of computer hardware and software.
* Programs, trains and assist other operators in the use of the returned ballot envelope scanner/sorter, presently a BlueCrest Elevate sorter; and ballot envelope address printers, presently a Neopost/Quadient HD-CX 1600 with an Accufast P8 backup printer.
* Programs, and tests proprietary election ballot software and maintains, tests, operates and trains staff on the vote tally system (Hart Verity).
*Produces and prints ballots and voter pamphlets.
* Maintains GIS-enabled address library and district maps.
*Backs up and archives digital files.
*Maintains website.
*Creates and maintains relationships with vendors.
*Trains and assists Election Board Workers on ballot scanning, adjudication of voter intent, and other ballot-handling procedures.
*Participates in user groups for the Oregon Centralized Voter Registration and election management system (OCVR), the Fluence/BlueCrest mail scanner/sorter, the Hart Verity voting system, ORVIS, and the Oregon Association of County Clerks.
*Assists public, including candidates with election laws and rules, including voter registration, candidate and measure filing and public information requests.
